David Tassell is educator and future social worker in Northern Virginia. He is passionate about exploring the connections between religion, culture, and society. As an adjunct faculty member in religious studies at George Mason University, David teaches courses such as Religion and Literature, focusing on the American context. He also works as part-time faculty in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Excelsior University, where he teaches and supports students historically underrepresented in higher education.
David has a Master of Theological Studies degree with a concentration in Political Theology from Calvin Theological Seminary. He is pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. There, David is learning clinical social work skills and examining the intersection of social work with religion and culture. He has also provided consultation services for congressional candidates who want to engage with faith communities for the common good and for non-profit organizations that want to improve their e%ectiveness.
